Please note the higher fees for Kitesurf equipment on JetBlue introduced a fee years ago.

Kitesurfing boards are accepted on JetBlue flights. Kiteboards must be properly packed to prevent damage to the board, kite, and related equipment and to other baggage, and are accepted upon payment of the applicable fee. Items weighing more than 100 pounds will not be accepted as checked baggage. Kitesurfing equipment is excluded from the size limitations, but will count as a checked bag. Be sure to note the $100 fee applies "per Board", so you may be charged multiple fees for 2 or more boards packed into the same bag, depending on your check-in agent. Be sure to note that Golf equipment does not incur the $100 sports equipment fee, so it may be worth checking out a Kitesurfing "Golf" Travel Bag to pass it off as golf equipment. However, it may not always work and you may be asked to open the bag for inspection at the airport - consider packing a couple of golf clubs in there as well, in case your bag gets inspected.
