In addition to the carry-on piece of luggage, Copa Airlines allows passengers to carry on an additional personal item. The following articles are considered additional personal items:

Most destinations are allowed 2 bags free of charge, limited to 32kg/70 lbs total. Neither of these bags may weigh more than 50lbs/23kg.
On flights to/from the US and Mexico, two 23kg/50lbs bags are allowed.

Each piece can measure up to 62 combined linear inches (157 cm) (height + length + width).
For most destinations, 32kg of baggage may be taken free of charge, split over 2 bags, with no bag weighing more than 23kg each.
For COPA Airlines flights to/from the USA, Mexico, and San Juan, except to/from Brasil, two bags with a maximum weight of 23kg each will be accepted. This also applies for flights to/from Canada, where a piece-concept system is in place. On some routes, you are allowed 2x32kg bags free of charge. For travel between the USA and Brasil, two bags of 32kg each will be accepted.
Business Class and OnePass Elite Silver members are allowed two bags of 32kg each, whereas OnePass Elite Gold/Platinum members are allowed three bags of 32kg each.

Overweight bags will usually cost $50 for most destinations, and $75 if weighing more than 70lbs. For routes between the USA/Canada and Brazil, the overweight fee is $100.

Fees for excess baggage are cumulative depending on registered baggage conditions. For example, if weight and size exceed the limit, Copa Airlines will charge the sum of both corresponding fees. Taxes may be applied to these costs based on the charges established by the country.

Permitted dimensions: no more than 46 linear inches (115 cm).
Any articles larger than the permitted size must be checked.
Excess baggage will be charged at 1% of the published Y fare per additional kilogram.
All baggage exceeding maximum weight, size dimensions or piece limitations, will be transported subject to space availability. We do not transport anything weighing more than 100 lb as registered baggage. Anything weighing more than this amount must be sent as freight.
