Tiger Airways Australia Checked Baggage Fees 2011 - Checked Bag Weight & Size Limits

Baggage can only be checked in for a flight up to 2 (two) hours prior to scheduled departure.

All checked baggage should be properly and securely packed in suitcases or appropriate containers to ensure safe carriage.

Passengers are advised not to check-in items, which are fragile, of importance or high value including but not limited to cash, jewellery, medicines or other valuables.

All passengers and their baggage will be subjected to security screening throughout their journey.

Passengers may bring baggage with them which can be checked into the hold of the aircraft providing they have selected the appropriate Luggage Upsize™ option. Passengers may not use the unused allowances of others. Only passengers travelling within the same reservation may pool their baggage allowance.

Luggage Upsize™
Our Luggage Upsize™ gives you even more choices on how you want to fly. You can save by travelling light on Tiger Airways with up to 10kg of hand luggage free, or choose to pay an affordable fee when flying with checked luggage.

Charges are based on the weight of the luggage you're checking in, so how you fly now lies in your hands - only pay for what you want, rather than for a service you may not need.

Passengers are offered the choice to save if they choose to travel with hand luggage only. Passengers who need to check baggage in have the option of selecting a Luggage Upsize™ option to suit their needs at the time of making their reservation. A corresponding fee will be charged per passenger per one way flight. This excludes, but is not limited to items such as sporting equipment.

At the time of booking, select the Luggage Upsize™ option for each passenger in your party who wants to upsize. The amount displayed will be added to your total flight purchase price. If you require a different upsize option for the return sector, please book your flight sectors individually and purchase the appropriate Luggage Upsize™ for each sector.

Passengers who have not pre-booked Luggage Upsize™ online at the time of booking have the option of doing so by calling the call centre up to 72 hours prior to departure. Passengers who do not exercise this option up to 72 hours prior to departure can still do so at the airport on the day of departure but will be limited to purchase only the 15kg baggage tier. Additional weight in excess of 15kg will be subjected to the prevailing excess baggage charges.

Passengers who pay the Luggage Upsize ™ fee at the time of booking or up to 72 hours before departure are not entitled to a refund of the fee in the event that they do not travel or do not carry the upsized luggage allowance of checked-in luggage.

Any excess over the Luggage Upsize™ option selected; will be charged per kilo at the prevailing rates in the common currency of the departure airport.

Please note: If an extra seat for your oversized musical instrument is reserved, you are required to bring your own restraint(s) for your instrument as Tiger Airways is not able to provide the necessary restraint(s). Failure to do so may mean your oversized musical instrument being carried in the hold of the aircraft as your safety and that of our other passengers are of our utmost priority.

For safety reasons Tiger Airways reserves the right to not accept any individual item exceeding 30 kilos.

Mobility aids and wheelchairs
Passengers' own wheelchairs will be carried free of charge, in addition to their normal baggage allowance, but must be checked in.

Wheelchairs that are powered by sealed, non-spillable batteries are accepted for carriage. Wheelchairs with un-sealed, spillable batteries will not be accepted.
All powered wheelchairs must be checked through and comply with relevant battery connection/disconnection requirements.

You must advise us whether you are able to board using steps or whether you require a wheelchair from check-in to the aircraft.

For Australia, we are able to provide a manual wheelchair to convey you from check-in to the aircraft, at which point a lifting device will be available, if previously requested (in the absence of an aero-bridge). Our crew can then assist in transferring you to an aisle wheelchair and from an aisle wheelchair to your seat. At your destination we will similarly transfer you from your seat and supply a lifting device and manual wheelchair for disembarkation, if previously arranged. Your wheelchair will then be delivered to you at the baggage collection point.

Our crews' ability to assist is subject to compliance with mandated Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in Australia as to the maximum permissible weight of a passenger for lifting (130kgs) and the mobility status of the passenger (e.g. a full lift of a passenger compared to passengers able to partially lift themselves, and whether assistance is available from a carer if applicable).

For Tiger Singapore flights, there will be a charge for assistance in respect of wheelchair and other services required from check in to embarkation if previously requested. There may be local unavailability of a lifting device or weight restrictions applicable to the use of devices and the ability of our crew to provide direct lifting assistance. Fees may be applicable for some devices.

We also have an upper torso harness available on our Australian flights, subject to usage restrictions, and prior booking. [AMZ asins='B00LB7REFK,B082K8ZNQ1,B07ZWLQF9T,B00NW62PCA']
