NEW: Good News for Surfers! Surfboards travel as standard baggage on Delta Airlines flights, with no oversized fee. Overweight baggage fees still apply.
As of July 17 2019, surfboards on Delta Airlines will be treated as a piece of regular baggage, and you will no longer be charged the $150 USD surfboard handling fee. [AMZ asins='B00HTA1Z6C,B00GGPK0V2,B00NIYJF6U,B0053TGSK4']
Standard baggage allowance and fees based on cabin and travel region apply. Your boardbag is treated as a normal suitcase - all regular baggage charges still apply, the weight is limited to 50 lbs / 23 kg, but you will not be charged the oversized baggage fee. Surfboards weighing over 50 lbs. will be charged the applicable excess weight fee.
If the outside linear dimensions (length + width + height) exceed 115 linear inches (292 cm), the item will not be accepted

If the surfboard is not in a protective case, you must fill out a limited liability release before the surfboard will be accepted.
Delta allows up to a maximum of two (2) boards per bag - keep this in mind, you may be asked to open the bag at check-in.
Bags over 50 lbs. will be charged an additional excess weight fee.
Between Honolulu and Maui, there is a $20 USD/CAD fee.
Boogie boards smaller than or equal to 43 inches (107 cm) will be accepted as part of the regular baggage allowance.
Surfboards over 115 linear inches are not allowed (no longboards or SUPs).
