Aer Lingus Transatlantic Flights
On Aer Lingus Transatlantic flights, all passengers may bring both a regular carry-on suitcase as well as a smaller personal item.
The larger carry-on bag is limited in weight to 10 kg, with a maximum size of 55 x 40 x 24 cm. The smaller personal item must be no larger than 25 x 33 x 20 cm. [AMZ asins='B00LB7REFK,B082K8ZNQ1,B07ZWLQF9T,B00NW62PCA']
This carry-on allowance applies to all journeys on your reservation, including connecting portions within Europe, when flying on a transatlantic reservation. The only exception is if you are connecting on a regional flight operated by Emerald Airlines, in which case the weight limit of the larger carry-on item is limited to 7 kg for all portions of your journey.
Aer Lingus Flights Within Europe
On Aer Lingus flights within Europe, not all reservations include a larger carry-on bag allowance. The cheapest fare (Saver fares) does not include a larger carry-on bag/suitcase, only a smaller personal item.
All passengers are allowed 1 smaller personal item: Small handbag, laptop, duty free or baby changing bag.
Max size 25 cm H (10”) x 33 cm W (13”) x 20 cm D (8”)
You may also bring a larger 10 kg bag with max size 55 cm H (21.5") x 40 cm W (15.5") x 24 cm D (9.5"), either by having this bag included in your booking, or by adding it separately by purchasing a "Carry-On Bag with Priority Boarding" for 5.99 EUR / GBP.
The larger 10 kg carry-on bag is included in the following cases:
AerClub - Silver, Platinum and Concierge AerClub members. (Members only, not travelling companions.)
Fare Types - All Plus, Advantage, Aer Credit Card, AerSpace and Economy fares purchased via British Airways. (Not included in Saver fares.)
Infants - Accompanying adult travelling with an infant.
Connections - Customers connecting to/from an Aer Lingus transatlantic flight or a connecting flight with an interline partner.
If you have your 10 kg bag included in your booking, you must bring this bag with you onto the plane as your carry-on item. If you have added a 10 kg bag by purchasing priority boarding, you may choose to bring the bag with you onto the plane, or to drop it off as a piece of checked luggage, for no additional charge.
If you don't have a larger carry-on bag included in your booking, and you have not added it to your booking by purchasing priority boarding, and you still bring a larger carry-on bag with you to the boarding gate, it will be placed into the cargo hold of the plane (you will not be allowed to take it with you into the cabin), and you will be charged a 35 EUR / GBP fee.
Aer Lingus Regional flights (operated by Emerald Airlines)
Baggage is restricted to one piece per passenger.
The maximum dimensions for a cabin bag are: 48 cm x 33 cm x 20 cm.
Baggage must weigh under 7kgs/15lbs and be small enough to fit in overhead bins or under your seat.
These limits are strictly enforced.
AER LINGUS FLIGHTS WITHIN EUROPE
Aer Lingus offers 4 options of purchased checked baggage, depending on how much you plan to take with you. Please keep it in mind it is best to purchase your baggage allowance before arriving at the airport, in order to pay the discounted rate through the Aer Lingus website.
Size S - Small Bag - One bag of maximum 15kg (Near: 20 EUR, Mid: 35 EUR, Far: 50 EUR)
Size M - Medium Bag - One bag of maximum 20kg (Near: 25 EUR, Mid: 40 EUR, Far: 55 EUR)
Size L - Large Bag - One bag of maximum 25kg (Near: 30 EUR, Mid: 45 EUR, Far: 60 EUR)
Size XL - Extra Large - Two bags, with maximum total weight of 40kg. No individual bag may weigh more than 32kg. (Near: 65 EUR, Mid: 70 EUR, Far: 80 EUR)
If you need more bags, you can purchase up to a maximum of 3 bags, at 10 EUR per bag, but keep in mind that you the total weight of all bags must remain within your chosen weight allowance.
On Plus or Advantage fares, you have a 20kg bag allowance included in your ticket. You can increase this to a 25kg (5-10 EUR) or 40 kg allowance (25-35 EUR) if desired.
Baggage allowance is per passenger, per direction.
Please note that these prices are when buying your baggage at the time of booking your flight. Adding bags to your flight with Manage My Booking is slightly more expensive, and it is significantly more expensive when purchasing through the call centre or at the airport, where it is almost double the price.
Be sure to stay within your weight limit, as you will be charged a fee of 10 EUR per Kilo if exceeding your weight allowance. It is not possible to upgrade to higher tier once at the airport.

AER LINGUS TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS
The Aer Lingus baggage allowance on transatlantic flights depends on your fare class. The Saver fare does not include any free checked bags, so you will be charged for every bag if you decide to bring them. You are limited to 3 checked bags. Smart and Economy Flex fares include a single bag of 23kg (50lbs), with the option to purchase 2 additional bags. Business and Business Flex fares include 3 bags weighing a total of up to 69kg total, with the individual weight of a single bag limited to 32kg.

These are prices for purchasing your baggage allowance online. Please note that higher fees apply when paying at the airport, so always plan in advance.
Be sure to plan your travels in advance, as Aer Lingus will ding you extra for checked baggage at the airport. It is much cheaper to pay for your bags online rather than at the airport.
It is not possible to upgrade your purchased weight allowance at the airport, so be sure to pack within your allowance. Otherwise you will be charged a fee of 10 EUR per KG exceeding your purchased weight allowance.
If you would like to bring more bags with you on the flight, you can purchase additional bags for 10 EUR each, up to 3 bags maximum. Please note that this is only the amount of bags, it does not increase your weight allowance. The total weight of all bags purchased must be within your purchased weight limit.
