You are allowed one piece of cabin baggage of up to 7kg and/or 1 laptop bag or 1 handbag onboard, each of which should not exceed the size dimensions. Our overhead compartments in the aircraft cabin are built to hold a certain size and weight of baggage. Anything exceeding these dimensions put our guests at risk of injury from falling objects should there be turbulence mid-air.
Size Dimensions: Cabin baggage should not exceed dimensions of 56cm X 36cm X 23cm.
Weight: Cabin baggage must not weigh more than 7kg

Such baggage should also fit under the seat in front of you or in the overhead compartment in the cabin. The approved cabin baggage must be tagged with a cabin bag tag.
You are also allowed to bring along your musical instrument onboard instead of a laptop or handbag, provided it does not exceed the approved weight and size.
If your musical instrument is larger than the stated dimensions we would advise you to buy another seat to safeguard against potential damage in the cargo hold.
No free checked baggage is included in your ticket. If you travel with check in baggage you will be charged a fee at different rates depending on the airport from which you fly.
It is suggested to pre-book your baggage by buying a baggage allowance online, in order to pay a discounted rate. Further, it is best to purchase your baggage allowance at booking, rather than through the "Manage My Booking" page, in order to get better rates for your baggage. You may access the fee schedule on the AirAsia website.
It is possible to pre-purchase baggage online in the following weight increments:
Domestic – 15kg/ 20kg/ 25kg/ 30kg/ 40kg
International – 20kg/ 25kg/ 30kg/ 40kg
Checked baggage weight can only be shared with passengers in the same booking number. Each single item has to weigh less than 32kg and is subject to occupational health and safety requirements
If not pre-purchasing your baggage online, do be aware that you will be charged a flat rate for the first 15kg and a different rate for each additional kg at the airport.
Maximum amount of checked baggage allowance that you can pre-book online
You can pre-book up to 40 kgs per guest. Please be advised that there is no limit of number of baggage to be checked in as long as the total weight does not exceed the prebooked weight and if it exceeds the prebooked baggage weight, every kilo after will be excess baggage.
You will be charged for excess baggage once you exceed 15kg. If you pre-booked your baggage online but check-in with heavier baggage you will also be charged for each additional kilo. The rate varies depending on the airport from which you depart. You may access fee schedule at AirAsia website for excess baggage rates depending on your departing and arriving airports.
Excess baggage can only be paid upon check-in at the airport on the day of departure. For health and safety reasons, we will not accept any individual item exceeding 32 kg and with combined dimensions of more than 81cm height, 119cm wide and 119cm in depth. This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.
If you are planning to travel with excess baggage, we suggest you arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled time of departure.
