American Airlines will no longer charge its $150 surfboard fee. Surfboards can be taken within your regular checked baggage allowance on American Airlines, and will be treated as a normal suitcase, as long as the board bag weighs less than 50 lbs/ 23 kg - the oversize fee will be waived.
Standard checked bag fees of your destination apply up to 50lbs/23kgs and 126in/320cm (length + width + height) or a $150 fee applies from 51lbs/23kgs to 70lbs/32kgs. [AMZ asins='B00HTA1Z6C,B00GGPK0V2,B00NIYJF6U,B0053TGSK4']
