Please note any payment made at the airport may incur a handling fee
Passengers are strongly advised to carry personal belongings, valuables and medication on their person or in their hand baggage (subject to permitted baggage allowance).
A Baggage Fee is charged for the carriage of Checked Baggage. The baggage fee is variable dependent on the weight allowance purchased and the destination. This may be prepaid at the current discounted internet rate. Rates start at GBP 13.99 for 22kg standard baggage allowance per one way flight when making your reservation online. Please note a GBP 20.00/EUR 20.00 charge per 22kg standard weight allowance will apply per one way flight for any bags added by the call centre or at the airport.
Pre-paid baggage fees are non-refundable. If you purchase a weight allowance of 24kg and then they only take 22kg you will not be refunded for the difference.
The standard Checked Baggage allowance is 22kgs per person. Passengers travelling together on the same booking reservation, who have individually purchased baggage, can pool their baggage weight allowance up to the equivalent of the weight allowance purchased. Once this limit is reached then standard overweight charges will apply. If you exceed the total checked baggage allowance you will be charged an additional GBP 12.00/EUR 15.00 per kilo on UK, Eire & International flights. Please note passengers travelling on the same booking reservation must all check-in at the same time in order to pool the baggage allowance.
This baggage allowance only applies to passengers who have paid for checked baggage.
FlyPlus customers allowance is 22kg per person, per flight. This is included in the fare at time of booking.
Infant allowance; infants under the age of 2 years (on the date of departure) are entitled to a 5kg baggage allowance, this will be added to the adult responsible for the infant. For children over 2 years, the price of flights and the baggage allowance is the same as for adults. Please note a pram/buggy will be carried free of charge providing an infant/child under 5 years of age is travelling. Should an infant be travelling, the carriage of infant travel cots and car seats will be permitted at the standard charge of GBP 10.00/EUR 12.50 per item per one way flight when added during the booking process providing that the weight and dimensions does not exceed that of standard hold luggage.
Baby buggies (subject to an infant/child under 5 years of age travelling), wheelchairs, scooters and walking frames are carried free of charge.
For health and safety reasons bmibaby can not accept any individual item exceeding 32kgs or with combined dimensions of more than 81cms (height), 119cms (width) and 119cms (depth). This weight limit does not apply to mobility equipment.
To help you we've simplified the process by basing it upon the total weight of the baggage required across everyone travelling together on a booking. This is instead of charging for the number of bags each person on the booking is allowed to carry.
Now, instead of cramming everything into as few bags as possible, worrying about whose case weighs what, juggling things between bags and re-packing at the airport, you can just concentrate on having a great holiday!
If you have finished your packing and find you have packed more than you expected, you have a couple of choices. Either leave something behind or you can increase your baggage weight allowance in increments of 2kg up to 3 hours before departure.
Large cases can get really heavy and be difficult to lift in and out of cars etc. This can be a real problem for some people, especially if they have bad backs. With our new baggage policy you can spread your packing across multiple bags (maximum of 5 per person) making each one easier to manage. There's no extra charge plus your taxi driver will be happy about not having to haul giant trunks around!
You can check out our charges relating to baggage in the table below, but please don't forget that it is cheaper to add baggage to your booking before you arrive at the airport.
All baggage in excess of the checked baggage allowance will be charged at the bmibaby excess baggage rate applicable as at the date of your flight.
