Musical instruments that are not considered to be dangerous because of their shape or volume can be transported as carry-on baggage, respecting the allowed rules for carry one baggage above.
In the situation in which a passenger presents at the boarding gate a baggage that does not comply with the designated weight and size of the hand luggage, as described above, the passenger will be charged an additional fee of 50 EUR/baggage/passenger/flight segment, the baggage will be assumed and transported as a checked-in baggage. We reserve our right to refuse the transport of any passenger or baggage that does not comply with these terms and Blue Air will not be held accountable for any damage caused by the refusal of carriage.
Each passenger is entitled to a maximum of four pieces of baggage with the maximum dimensions of 100x80x30cm. Starting with July 25, 2011, the fee for checked-in baggage (every piece of checked-in baggage) is of 17 EUR/flight segment, except in the situation in which the checked-in baggage is paid at the departure airport within check-in/ticketing formalities, in which case the fee is 30 EUR/flight segment. The maximum allowed weight for the checked-in baggage is of 32 kilos per piece. Baggage weight cannot be accumulated between two or more passengers.
Starting with July 7th, 2011, for children up to 2 years old (Infants), a free checked-in baggage up to 32 kg is accepted. If a stroller of one or more pieces is brought for the infant, it will be considered checked-in baggage, and other baggage will be charged according to the conditions of carriage for luggage for adults.
Starting with November 1st, 2011, the fee for checked-in baggage will be charged according to the travel period, as follows:
- in High Season (15 June - 15 September and 15 December - 15 January) the fee will be 20 euro/ passenger/ flight segment;
- in Low Season (16 January - 14 June and 16 September - 14 December) the fee will be 17 Euro/ passenger / flight segment.
The tax will be applied starting with the travel period 15 June - 15 September 2012.
When your Checked-in Baggage is handed over for check-in, it gets in our custody and we shall issue an Identification Baggage Tag.
We recommend you to specify on the Checked-in Baggage your name, address and a telephone number where you may be contacted.
The Checked-in Baggage shall be carried in the same aircraft as you. If this is not possible for reasons independent of our will we have the obligation to carry it to your destination specified on the electronic ticket, as soon as possible.
The Catania and Naples airports charge a tax of 5 Euro, for collecting the baggage fee. The baggage fee tax can be paid at any Blue Air agency!
We may refuse the carriage of any baggage exceeding the maximum weight accepted per square meter into the aircraft hold which is not insured or is improperly packed or does not respect the terms and conditions for the transportation of luggage.
If the musical instrument exceeds the given dimensions and/or weight for hand baggage, the passenger must pay the equivalent amount of one seat in order to ensure the transport of the instrument in the cabin.
Traveling with Babies or Small Children
Baby milk and baby food are considered to be essential items and therefore you will be able to carry the milk in bottles containing more than 100ml if necessary. However, you will be asked to taste the milk to prove its authenticity.
Baby food in a quantity sufficient for the duration of the flight may be taken with you in hand luggage but you will be asked to taste the food when you go through the security search area. Jars are preferable to cartons as the jars are easier to check and can be resealed.
Nappies and wet wipes are permitted but any creams, pastes, lotions or gels must be of no more than 100ml maximum placed in a 1 Litre re-sealable clear plastic bag as per the restrictions on liquids.
You may pack jars of food and prepared cartons of sealed formula milk in your hold luggage.
A pushchair or buggy may be taken through security search. You will be asked to remove your baby for a few minutes as the buggy will need to go through the x-ray machine separately.
