Frontier Airlines Kiteboard Fees

Kitesurfing equipment is accepted on Frontier Airlines as checked baggage. Kitesurf equipment is defined by Frontier Airlines as including one kiteboard. The fin must be encased in protective material.

Frontier Airlines Kitesurfing Equipment Fees:
All Standard Checked baggage fees, including excess baggage fees, are charged based on Fare Option purchased. Overweight ($75-$100) and oversized ($75) baggage fees are charged if applicable.

Be sure to note the lower weight allowance of only 40 lbs (18 kg) on checked bags (down from 50 lbs / 23 kg previously). The new overweight fees that will apply in 2023 are:
41-50 lbs: $75 Overweight Fee (previously $50)
51-100 lbs: $100 Overweight fee

If you would like to save some money on your kiteboarding gear, be sure to note that Frontier Airlines does not charge the $75 Oversized Baggage fee for golf equipment - it could be worth looking into a "Kitesurfing Golf Bag" to pretend you are travelling with golf equipment. Just know that you may be asked to open the bag for inspection at check-in - we have heard stories that sometimes it is helpful to pack a few golf clubs into the kiteboard bag in case "Golf" bag is inspected by the check-in agent.
