Air Transat accepts your fishing equipment as part of your regular checked baggage allowance, as long as you do not exceed your regular baggage allowance. Air Transat defines fishing equipment as the following:

Quantity:
1 tackle box, reels and rods. [AMZ asins='B000E3E22A,B008BR23FY,B00YEH5PQO,B00SXZMQTM']

Dimensions:
Regular size

Cost:
Free within size, piece and weight limits. Extra costs may include Extra Piece (up to $225), Overweight (23-32 kg, $100 fee), and Oversized (larger than 158 cm, up to 292 cm, $100 fee) fees.

Weight:
Maximum 23 kg (50 lb.) total

Excess charges apply when free sporting equipment allowance (size/piece/weight) is exceeded.

Please ensure that equipment is properly wrapped/secured for transport to prevent loss or damage.

We recommend packing your fishing rods into a hard-shell case such as the Plano Airliner Telescoping Rod Case for maximum protection during travel.

When flying on Air Transat to Europe, you are permitted one free set of fishing equipment up to 20kg/44lbs in addition to your regular free baggage allowance, free of charge.
