You can take your SCUBA gear on board your American Airlines flight for a fee of $150. You can travel with:
1 scuba tank
1 scuba regulator
A tank harness
A tank pressure gauge
1 pair of fins
1 snorkel and mask
1 BC vest

If you are traveling with a regulator valve, it needs to be completely disconnected from the cylinder and the cylinder needs an opening to allow a visual inspection inside.
Cost - $150 (free baggage allowance does not apply)
Maximum weight and size - 70 lbs.

Maximum weight is 50lbs/23kg, max size 62 inches. Regular checked baggage fees apply, you will be charged the same fee as the standard 1st or 2nd baggage fee of your destination (oversize fee is waived). If you have excess baggage, you’ll be charged the excess baggage fee for each item you travel with, including any overweight and oversize fees that may apply.
