ITA Airways Windsurfing Fees and Policies

Windsurfing equipment is accepted on ITA Airways as a "Large Sports Equipment" item - your windsurfing gear is not included in your regular checked baggage allowance.

ITA Airways will accept your windsurfing gear as long as the total dimensions of L+W+H do not exceed 300 cm. The maximum weight is 23 kg / 50 lbs, above which ITA Airway's standard Overweight baggage fee will apply. [AMZ asins='B07WSRXMS8,3903038180,3937323228,B00JE3E028']

TIP:It is a similar price to pay for excess weight (up to 32 kg / 70 lbs) as for another piece of "Large Sports Equipment", so we recommend buying 2x "Large Sports Equipment" allowances, and packing into 2 separate bags (1 board bag and 1 quiver bag). This way you get 2 x 23 kg allowance, allowing you to bring a couple of extra sails for the same or similar price (price difference on flights to/from USA is about $10 USD) as bringing a single board bag and paying the overweight fee for up to 32 kg / 70 lbs.

When adding your windsurf gear to your ITA Airways booking, you should select the "Large Sports Equipment" option. Remember to add it online ahead of time, rather than pay the higher fee when paying for your boardbags at the airport.
