There are BIG changes to Hawaiian Airlines's windsurfing equipment policies after its merger with Alaska Airlines (known as one of the friendliest airlines for windsurfers). Effective January 8 2025, Hawaiian Airlines will NO LONGER CHARGE a special windsurfing equipment fee for flying with your windsurf gear. Windsurf equipment will be accepted as part of your regular free checked baggage allowance, with no additional overweight / oversize / special handling fees.
Windsurfing Equipment is limited in size to 115 linear inches (292 cm) L + W + H and a maximum weight of 32 kg / 70 lbs without incurring additional oversize/overweight baggage fees. This means that you can bring your windsurf equipment free of charge in place of a regular suitcase as part of your free checked baggage allowance, or simply paying the standard regular checked baggage fee (as if you were bringing a regular suitcase) for your windsurf gear. Additional board bags will be charged the standard extra baggage for your trip, and bags exceeding the 32 kg / 70 lbs limit may not be accepted or will be charged Hawaiian's standard overweight baggage fee for bags weighing 32-45 kg (70-100 lbs).
These new rules for accepting windsurfing equipment are effective January 8 2025, and apply to all of Hawaiian Airlines's flights including both domestic and international flights, as well as connecting flights through its network.
