Windsurfing Equipment is accepted by Hawaiian Airlines as checked baggage. It is not included in the baggage allowance, and will always be charged a fee. Windsurfing equipment is defined as:

One Windsurfing Board with a boom and one Mast and Sail
- OR -
Any one portion of the windsurfing equipment as defined above [AMZ asins='B07WSRXMS8,3903038180,3937323228,B00JE3E028']

Hawaiian Airlines has modified its windsurfing fees in November 2023, and is now more generous than before. Windsurfing Equipment may now weigh up to a maximum of 100 lbs (45 kg), with a maximum length of 115 inches (292 cm).

Hawaiian Airlines Windsurfing Fees - November 2023 Update
Within the State of Hawaii - $35 USD
Between Hawaii and North America - $100 USD

These fees officially "in addition to any baggage allowance fees" that apply, so you may also be charged the standard 1st or 2nd checked bag fee for your windsurf gear.

On all other flights, Hawaiian Airlines does not specify windsurf-specific baggage fees or rules, so the easiest way to travel with your windsurf gear is to simply say that you are flying with a surfboard, and to pay the surfboard baggage fees. In this case, we recommend packing into 2 separate board bags keeping their weight below 50 lbs (23 kg), which will come out cheaper than paying for a single board bag weighing 100 lbs. Please see the exact "surfboard" bag fees on the Hawaiian Airlines Surfboard Baggage Rules and Fees page

Hawaiian Airlines is not responsible for the ground delivery of windsurfing equipment not accommodated on the original flight which your windsurfing equipment was accepted as checked baggage. You will have to pick up your equipment from the airport at your destination if it happens to be delayed and arrives on a later flight.
