Frontier Airlines accepts ski equipment in place of a regular piece of checked baggage. One item may include skis, ski poles, and ski boots. One pair of boots (in a boot bag) may be checked separately from the ski bag, but still count as one item as long as the boot bag does not exceed 25 pounds. If the boot bag is over 25 pounds, it will be considered a second bag.
For example:
One ski bag and one pair of boots (under 25 pounds) = one item
One piece of luggage, one ski bag and one pair of boots = two items
One ski bag and one boot bag over 25 pounds = two items

Allow an extra 30 minutes for check-in.
Checked: Yes
Carry-on: Yes for boots only, but must not exceed allowable carry-on dimensions.
Frontier Airlines Ski Bag Fees:
Standard checked and carry-on bag fees, including excess, are charged based on Fare Option purchased. If the boot bag is over 25 pounds, it is charged as an extra piece of checked luggage.
Overweight charges apply if item is 40 lbs or more.
Be sure to note Frontier's lowered weight allowance of only 40 lbs (18 kg) on checked bags, less than the industry standard of 50 lbs / 23 kg of most airlines. The updated overweight fees for 2023 that will apply are:
41-50 lbs: $75 Overweight Fee (previously $50)
51-100 lbs: $100 Overweight fee
Oversize charges do not apply to skis on Frontier Airlines.
