Windsurfing equipment is officially only accepted on International Qantas flights. In theory, Qantas Airlines does not officially accept windsurfing equipment on domestic flights, claiming size restrictions that it would not fit on the aircraft
Anecdotally many windsurfers have flown domestically on Qantas flights with windsurf gear without any issues, however keep in mind that this may depend on your luck at the check-in desk. Many windsurfers have successfully flown with their gear on domestic Qantas flights without any complications. When booking, it is best to say you will be bringing "Surfboards" rather than "Windsurfing" gear. [AMZ asins='B07WSRXMS8,3903038180,3937323228,B00JE3E028']
According to Qantas, One sailboard kit consists of not more than one board, mast, boom and sail, and the length must not exceed 277cm (109in).
Qantas Airlines Australian Domestic Windsurfing Rules
According to the official Qantas website, windsurfers cannot be carried as baggage domestically due to the length of the sail mast. They must be sent as freight and freight charges will apply. However, many windsurfers have flown with windsurfing gear on Qantas without any trouble.
Qantas Airlines Windsurfing Rules on International Routes to/from USA/South America
