Avelo Airlines accepts windsurfing equipment as a piece of standard checked baggage. The regular checked baggage fees apply, as well as any applicable oversize ($100) and overweight ($100) fees.
Avelo Airlines will accept windsurf equipment so long as it is packed in a well padded and appropriate board bag or suitable container. Any skegs or fins should be removed or be well-padded. [AMZ asins='B07WSRXMS8,3903038180,3937323228,B00JE3E028']
Be sure to note that Avelo's fees for oversize and overweight luggage has gone up for 2023, compared to the $50 Oversize and Overweight fees that Aveloo used to charge.
You are likely to exceed the 23 kg weight limit with just a single board and one rig, so you will be charged the full $200 of both fees, in addition to the standard extra bag fee. We recommend packing your board separately from the quiver bag - in this case you will have two bags ($100 oversize fee x 2), but it will give you a total of 46 kg / 100 lbs to bring additional sails, masts, etc for a similar price, while paying a lower price for the extra bag ($40-$45 if paid ahead of time, $65 at the airport) than the $100 overweight fee, and being only allowed to bring 32 kg (no single bag is allowed to weigh more than 32 kg / 70 lbs, even when paying for overweight luggage).
