Kitesurfing gear can be brought on ITA Airways as a "Small Sports Equipment" item - your kitesurfing gear does not fly as part of your regular checked baggage allowance, except to/from the USA.
NOTE - TO/FROM USA:An exception is on flights to/from the USA, your kitesurfing gear can be taken as part of your regular free checked baggage allowance, in place of a regular suitcase, as long as it fits within the 23 kg / 50 lbs weight limit. When flying with your kite gear, the maximum weight is 23 kg / 50 lbs, above which ITA Airway's standard Overweight baggage fee will apply.
When adding your Kite gear to your ITA Airways booking, you should select the "Small Sports Equipment" option. Remember to add it online ahead of time, rather than pay the higher fee when paying for your boardbag at the airport.
