ITA Airways Fishing Rod Fees

Fishing equipment can be brought on ITA Airways as a "Small Sports Equipment" item - it does not fly as part of your regular checked baggage allowance, except to/from the USA. A size limit of 300 cm (L+W+H) applies.

Fishing Equipment is defined as "2 fishing rods, fishing reel, a small net, a pair of boots, a bait box or a haversack."

When flying with your fishing gear, the maximum weight is 23 kg / 50 lbs, above which ITA Airway's standard Overweight baggage fee will apply.

When adding your fishing gear to your ITA Airways booking, you should select the "Small Sports Equipment" option. Remember to add it online ahead of time, rather than pay the higher fee when showing up at the airport.
