Turkish Airlines Bike Fees and Policies

A bicycle can be taken on Turkish Airlines flights as checked baggage. It is mandatory to make a reservation for your bicycle before flying.

On Domestic Flights within Turkey, your bicycle will be considered part of your regular checked baggage allowance, and any excess baggage will be charged the standard excess luggage rates. [AMZ asins='B00JEILGMK,B00FRG7Q7W,B018FF6EV0,B00FNSS6QY']

On international flights, Turkish Airlines will charge the following special rates for carriage of bicycles:

America/South America/South Africa/CIS/Far East/Interline - EUR 60
Europe/North Africa/Middle East - EUR 30
Africa/Asia - EUR 50

For travels from/to international airports (except for Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) including a transit flight to Turkey, calculate the total charge by adding together the one-way charge between each point and Turkey.

For example: If you are travelling from Skopje to New York, you will pay €30 for your Skopje - Istanbul flight plus €60 for your Istanbul - New York flight, making a total of €90.

Packing your Bike for Turkish Airlines
Bicycles shall be carried in sturdy paperboard/cardboard boxes or their special packages in a way preventing damage. The tyres shall be deflated if deemed necessary.

Electric bicycles or bicycles with motors are not accepted due to the amount of lithium in their batteries, which exceeds the Dangerous Goods Regulations for lithium batteries.

When packing your bike, the handlebars must be turned, the saddle set to the lowest setting, the pedals removed, and all parts with extensions removed.
