SWISS Airlines will accept your bicycle free of charge, in place of a regular suitcase as part of your regular free checked baggage allowance. The standard weight limit of 23 kg / 50 lbs applies.
A bicycle is defined as: 1 regular bike (no motor / no e-bike) or 1 special children's trolley to use with a bike or 1 one-wheel bike is considered as Category "Normal" sports equipment. [AMZ asins='B00JEILGMK,B00FRG7Q7W,B018FF6EV0,B00FNSS6QY']
The bike can be brought for free as part of your checked baggage allowance. If your bike is heavier than your baggage allowance (up to a maximum of 32 kg / 70 lbs), or as an extra piece, or if you are flying with an Economy Light fare which doesn't include a baggage allowance, your bike will be treated as "Normal" sports equipment, and charged the "Normal" sports equipment fee.
SWISS Airlines Normal Sports Equipment Fee
The Normal sports equipment fee on SWISS Airlines is for a regular bicycle up to 2.00 meters long. The bike box may weigh up to a maximum of 32 kg / 70 lbs.
Within Switzerland: $90 USD / 80 EUR
Within Europe: $90 USD / 80 EUR
Intercontinental: $150 USD / 130 EUR
If flying with a Tandem bike, it is classified as a "Large" sports equipment item, and will be charged a higher fee.
SWISS Airlines Large Sports Equipment Fee
Large Sports Equipment may be up to 315 cm long and weighing up to 32 kg / 70 lbs:
Within Switzerland: $150 USD / 130 EUR
Within Europe: $150 USD / 130 EUR
Intercontinental: $370 USD / 320 EUR
Register Your Bike with SWISS Airlines
You MUST Register your bike at least more than 24 hours before your flight, even if it is being brought for free in place a regular suitcase. You can do so online via the SWISS Airline website, or by calling the service center.
It is not possible to register your bike less than 24 hours before departure.
