SAS Scandinavian Airlines Surfboard Fees

Surfboards are accepted on most SAS Airlines flights, except on smaller airplanes including AR8 / AT7 / CRK / CR9 / DH4.

Surfboards must be packed properly for transport, and are considered one piece of checked baggage. If it fits within the baggage allowance, you don’t need to pay anything extra. If it doesn’t, you will need to buy extra baggage. In this case, it is best to pay for it online as early as possible, as prices go up the closer you get your departure date. You don’t need to register your surfboard in advance as long as it is less than 200 cm long. Boardbags longer than 200 cm must be registered in advance.

Your surfboard is limited in weight to 23 kg / 50 lbs. If your board bag weighs more than 23 kg / 50 lbs, you will have to pay an overweight baggage fee, as outlined below. The overweight baggage fee depends on the origin/destination of your flight, and the weight of the bag. The maximum weight allowed is 32 kg / 70 lbs.
