Musical Instruments as Carry-On Baggage on SAS Airlines

The cello is the only instrument that exceeds the SAS weight and dimension measurements for carry-on baggage that is accepted in the aircraft cabin. Book and pay for an extra seat for your cello at the time of booking by calling the SAS Customer Contact Center, or through your travel agent. These bookings cannot be made at flysas.com. 

Musical Instruments as Checked Baggage on SAS Airlines

If you check in your musical instrument, it must be packed in a hard case.

The following are fees for special baggage such as large musical instruments exceeding 32 kg (33-45 kg/73-99 lbs.)

Domestic SE/DK/NO/FI - €99/$129
Europe & Tel Aviv - €140/$177
Rest of the world - €190/$250

Double bass. You must always register your double bass in your booking prior to departure. If you have booked direct with SAS, complete the special baggage registration form on the SAS website (https://www.flysas.com/en/s/scandcontact/forms/special_baggage/). If you have booked through a travel agent, please contact them.
